It is not always easy. The way I cope is to maintain focus on the task with a structure from start to finish. I will get up from writing after one to two hours so I can recharge and start again with new energy. Knowing the end state does help me. This is challenging and it is a process. Getting four to six hours of writing in is a good day. Staying positive and having good people around and supporting you helps me stay motivated.

For me, knowing that I can take life situations that have happened to me in the past like with my dog and use that to reach other people through my writing is exciting. The writing must relate to the audience that draws an interest. The goal is always to bring meaningful insight and interest to the reader so they can relate to what is being presented. My writings in the future will mostly be non-fiction books vs fiction books.

Be true to who you are and realize writing is a process. Understand that some people may not like your writing or style, but, that’s ok. We need the critics to ensure our product is good and since writing is a process, we should trust the process that everything will be ok. Always believe in yourself and have good mentors who can inspire you to help you along the way.

I am putting together a motivational book on taking a good look at self when dealing with criticism. This book will be designed to relate to teenagers and adults alike. I have about 60 percent complete. I have the structure but working and re-working on the moving parts. The book will have six chapters and approximately one hundred pages. I expect to be done in November 2017 and hope to be ready for publishing around January/February 2018.

When I finished the book, I was proud of this achievement. In August 2002, I wrote a project term paper for the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute (DEOMI) school while in training for the US Army. My term paper won the most outstanding writer award for my class out of sixteen people. I started to realize I have a talent that that maybe I could use to influencing and being a difference maker to people in a positive way. We will see what the future brings as I continue to pursue this.

I wrote this book in tribute to my mom who loved my dog Bear. She never directly met him since we live in Texas and she lives in Ohio. She would always ask about him. There were times I put the speaker phone on and my mom would talk to Bear. His ears would perk up like an antenna when she called his name. Bear would lick the phone and bark back, LOL.
