Mike Travis Wow, this is a tough question that has been posed to me! I love the idea of being able to travel through space easily visiting other worlds and learning more. I would love to have a conversation with the famed Hari Seldon from Issac Asimov's Foundation series or to actually meet R. Daneel Olivaw would be so interesting. Seeing other worlds and experiencing technology that is beyond my wildest dreams would be an amazing experience. If I was forced to go back in time for this question, I would probably choose the wild west. I love the idea of adventure and of seeing uncharted lands.
Mike Travis I just finished reading "The Black Widow" by Daniel Silva. I just started reading "The Swarm" by Orson Scott Card. Mostly, though, I am spending time reading and editing my new book, "Cooper's Destiny", which should come out at the end of June.
Mike Travis It took me a while to think about this answer as many of the books I read don't have long-term couples. I think my first choice would have to be Gabriel Allon and his future wife (I don't want to reveal more, in case you haven't read the series). Gabriel is an Israeli spy in the thriller book series from Daniel Silva. I love the series because it is somewhere in between the overloaded military aspects of Tom Clancy, and the sometimes brutal violence in the Brad Thor series. Gabriel is an art restorer as well as a spy, so there is a lot of history about famous works of art as well as the history of Israel and the Holocaust. The books take place in modern day, so the connections to what is going on around the world with terrorism is very good. I have only listened to these books as audiobooks and George Guidall's voice is perfect for them. If you are looking for a new spy/thriller series to read, this one is wonderful.
Mike Travis I didn't have much of this during the writing process, but sometimes just taking time away to go to the beach or to a quiet park helps.
Mike Travis Seeing my story as an actual book was an incredible feeling!
Mike Travis I think the National Novel Writing Month Contest is a great way to start on your book. Think of something in your life that could write about and just go for it!
Mike Travis I have a full-time job as a teacher, so that is what I am busy on right now; however, I have been throwing around some ideas for my next book that I will probably start in November.
Mike Travis I decided in November of 2015 that I wanted to try the National Novel Writing Contest and this inspired me to write my first book. I had over 50,000 words so I complete the contest; however, I wanted to publish my work, so I kept writing until the summer.
Mike Travis My first book, "Faded Jeans to Army Greens" was based on my time in the U.S. Army from 1988 to 1991. I also served in Operation Desert Storm.
