That's hard to say. I think it first came from the many topics I researched, wrote about, and taught. My interests came second. I thought of a way to combine evangelism, Biblical apologetics, and creation science within the context of a story line. "Skimming Eternity" was first written as a short story. I wasn't real sure what I would do with it, other than sharing it with friends. My wife suggested it needed to be written as a science fiction novel. A little over a year later, after beginning to write, it was published. I'm still waiting to find out how well it will be received. Some who share my core beliefs, will like it. Others who do not share my world view will despise it.

I never imagined myself as a competent writer. I still don't. But I write and wrote anyway. Just write. Finding the correct publisher is another matter. The top publishers are probably not the first avenue to pursue. Find a publisher that publishers books of a similar nature. For instance, for me, it was a publisher who specialized in books of a Christian nature.

I go ahead and write the thought, as imperfect as it might be. If I wake up in the middle of the night with an idea, I pick up my phone and write down the thought in my notepad. Incidentally, I do not always write in chronological or book progression order. I later arrange them in the proper order.

I can answer the worst thing about being a writer. The best thing is tied to that answer because the worst thing is wondering how my novel will be received. The best thing is if and when I receive good reviews. Honestly, however, I am not all that concerned. I would just like to know that my novel is being read by many.

I developed the ambition from decades back of one day becoming a writer of fiction. I have always written, but most of my writing has been related to theological issues and bland topics of interest to me, but probably not to others. After retiring from my work in video production, I set about writing my first novel. My inspiration came from my many years of research in both theology and science. The catalyst was probably from waking up in the middle of the night with an idea of how to combine the two.
