I have six published books so far -- the Bad Girls Don't Die series (3 books); Marie Antoinette, Serial Killer; Famous Last Words; and The Dead Girls of Hysteria Hall. Two more books coming from Penguin, starting next year!

By writing! That sounds overly simplistic, but the first and most important step is to write, write, write. Get your practice in as if you were trying to become a concert violinist. Take a creative writing class if you can, but also encourage yourself to be curious -- the things that matter the most to you are the things you will be able to write about with the most truth and passion. Hmm... spooky facts? Once I was repeating a phrase to myself over and over, and when I turned on the radio, the phrase I'd been repeating was the name of the song that was playing. Also, my daughter says creepy things sometimes... once, when I was sitting in her bedroom, she said, "Mommy, the man is mad at you," and I said, "Why?" and she said, "Because you're sitting on him!" Needless to say, I got up and moved. ;-)

I took creative writing classes in high school. In college, I studied film, which is definitely related, as it's all related to telling stories. I also took a non-fiction writing class.

Hello! Occasionally I give copies of my books out... mostly directly to school or public libraries! Sometimes if my friends are extra nice to me, I'll give them a copy. ;-)

Hi, Amiya! Sorry to take so long to reply to you. Right now there are no plans for a sequel to The Dead Girls of Hysteria Hall. It was always intended as a standalone. Thanks for asking!

Hi, Bella! Yes, I'm writing a new book right now. The working title (probably not the final title) is "The Breaking Tide," and it's due out next year (2017).
