When I started telling my story, I was surprised to find so many people interested in learning more. They could either relate to some of the same suffering, or they were compelled to know how I survived it. After a great deal of encouragement, I decided to put it to paper. I was first motivated by professional reasons. Helping the public understand, on an emotional level, the plight of millions of children seemed a worthy goal. I never expected, though, the process would be so deeply therapeutic for me. Nothing pleases me more than to hear from a reader they have committed to doing something to help the cause of vulnerable children, or that they have found some healing or peace for their own lives by reading it.
