It may sound silly, but the advice is to WRITE. Writers are people who need to write. Yes, we may all have the dream of being published, but it is not getting published that makes you a writer. Aspiring writers is such a funny term to me. You're either a writer or you're not. You either write or you don't. You can be an aspiring author, but if that is your goal, your writing is going to suffer. Write for yourself and the stories you have inside you. Be willing to revise, dig down into your words, unearth some things, leave others buried. Be willing to let go of what doesn't work and not take it personally. Just get it on the page and then work to make the page look better and better, and then do it all over again.

I am currently reading on a final revision of my second novel with my agent, Linda Camacho. After this sweep, the book will be sent out to editors.
