Jessica Dainty is a native New Englander, who has bounced back and forth from the Northeast to Tennessee over the past 20 years. Jessica works as a consulting teacher and reading specialist in the field of special education. When she is not writing her own words, she loves helping others fall in love with reading, especially those who may have given up on it long ago.

Yes, we may all have the dream of being published, but it is not getting published that makes you a writer. Aspiring writers is such a funny term to me. You're either a writer or you're not. You either write or you don't. You can be an aspiring author, but if that is your goal, your writing is going to suffer. Write for yourself and the stories you have inside you. Be willing to revise, dig down into your words, unearth some things, leave others buried. Be willing to let go of what doesn't work and not take it personally. Just get it on the page and then work to make the page look better and better, and then do it all over again.(less)
