J.C. Long I am not against women writing MM if they can write it well, without exploiting and fetishizing the community. I am entirely against women posting as gay men when writing because it lends themselves an authority that they don't have, and claiming Own Voices when you are in fact not part of a certain marginalization is deplorable. That tweet was part of a thread in which I specifically mention the concept of posing as a gay man when you are in fact not.
J.C. Long I'm really excited for Dim Sum Asylum by Rhys Ford and Draakenwood by Jordan L. Hawk for this summer!
J.C. Long I'm not fond of this question, because it implies that I need inspiration to write. If I sat around all day waiting for inspiration to strike before I wrote I'd never write. I create my own inspiration. Writing is work--you have to put in the effort. Sometimes it's difficult to force the words onto the page, but you have to, until those moments inspiration DOES strike. When it does, it's more often than not because of something I've forced myself to write, some epiphany it's given me.
J.C. Long The next book will feature Winston and Steel! Wei and Noah will be in it, and they will be main characters in a future book, but book 2 is about our angsty young ones.
J.C. Long I'm currently working on the second novel in my Hong Kong Nights series (the first will be out sometime in 2017) as well as the third Unzipped Short novelette, along with edits on my novella Hearts in Ireland as well as edits on the second Unzipped Short story, "Unzipping 7D".
J.C. Long Having people enjoy the stories that I write, or relating to the characters. Making one person7s day brighter is a great feeling.
J.C. Long I try to not worry too much about it; whenever I'm having trouble writing a story, I switch to a second story for a bit, so that I can come back to the current writing fresh.
