Watching the news a few years back, I was suddenly struck by the possibility that the current ease of access to information of the esoteric variety might not be so easy or accessible.
For the benefit of some kid in some corner of the world that might have real need for mirror and candle magic/exercises, I assembled what I could and put it between covers.

Actually I was told to write. A good friend turned to me one day after I made a joke about a possible book title. I wasn't a writer, or at least I didn't consider myself a writer. I was just throwing the title out for comic effect and maybe one of the writers present would pick up on the idea. Instead, my friend looked and me and said "Write it." The rest is between the pages. That friend was E.J. Gold.

This advice comes from a friend Claudio Naranjo. I will paraphrase: "Write for your readers, not for your critics."
It is not uncommon to direct content toward the folks you know in your field that will be critical -- either to appease them or ward them off. They are not your readers. Turn your attention to those that appreciate your work. You will have a better experience during the writing. And, your readers will get a better book.

The writing is the best thing, along with the potential for being of some service. The books I write are designed to open doorways for the curious and courageous. That's why I write. My niche is fairly tight, so if a few dozen (or a few hundred) find use in the content that is great.

I suppose at one time writer's block was the major issue. That may still be. However for many folks, including myself, finding large blocks of time to write is a difficult task. Social media and various dms are like electronic tendrils reaching out for our attention every few minutes. Staying focused and keeping one's attention focused on the task at hand can be tough.
