Goodreads asked Claude Needham:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Claude Needham This advice comes from a friend Claudio Naranjo. I will paraphrase: "Write for your readers, not for your critics."

It is not uncommon to direct content toward the folks you know in your field that will be critical -- either to appease them or ward them off. They are not your readers. Turn your attention to those that appreciate your work. You will have a better experience during the writing. And, your readers will get a better book.
