I don’t think reviews per se gain an author more visibility. I believe they may assist with the sale once a reader comes across the book.

Growing up my mom brought me to the library a lot. It was our form of entertainment. I always liked the Post-Apocalyptic books and loved the stories about survival. I also had a fascination with the Bible's Book of Revelation (I grew up Irish Catholic in a small town south of Boston). I loved Stephen King's The Stand and The Dark Tower series along with The Left Behind series by Tim LaHaye & Jerry Jenkins. I knew long ago that I wanted to write about the Four Horsemen and incorporate todays time. I toyed around with an idea but felt like I was missing something. Last year my drinking reached an all time high and my wife threatened to leave me. I decided to do something about my life and write the story inside me. Addiction & Pestilence is an ugly look at the world gone mad and continues throughout the Slaying Dragons series. Not everything goes as planned. Only you control your life no matter what anyone tells you!

My mom would bring us to our towns library as a way to entertain my sister and I. My mom would read to us and tell us about the books she was reading. I remember my mom telling me about Stephen King's The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger back in the early 80's (I was 7 when it came out). I still remember the cover and how cool the book sounded. Of course she didn't let me read it but I was hooked. I used to dream about the cover and imagined how the story went. It's kinda funny because she let me read Cujo though (awesome book by the way. Also by Stephen King. Check it out.) I've since read the Gunslinger (a few times) and it was better than I could have imagined. I've always been envisioning stories in my head since then and one day I decided to try my hand at writing.

I just started working on Demons & War which is the second book in my Slaying Dragons: A Journey Through Hell series.

Listen to other writers. If they're willing to tell you something, it's worth listening. Observe a lot. Watch people and how they act. Find the little nuances, those are the gems of your character. Make your characters real to life. Make the reader feel like they can relate to the character. I love that bond between the writer and myself when I can relate to the character. I start to see myself as the character. That's a great story!

I love watching the story unfold in my mind and to then see the blank page come alive with my ideas and characters. I really enjoy writing the dialogue between characters.

This is something every writer deals with. I try to read more along with brainstorm for ideas. I also go back through my notebooks full of ideas to help me get through. But the best way I found is to just push through and write.
