Ken Wasil Car of the Future and Other Stories, a coming of age collection of short stories, evolved from the numerous crisises young people are and will be facing as they become adults and encounter the challenges of a new world: the environment, robots taking over their jobs, terrorism, and genetic engineering changing the structure of plants, animals, and even people.

Security Guard Mom, one of the stories, evolved from a family I worked for. The husband died of smoking and the mother, who had to support six girls, took the only job she could get; being a security guard.

She had been trained as an artist and teacher and used a creative approach to solve crimes and initiate new ways of doing things.
Ken Wasil Ideas spring into my mind from people I meet, work and travel I do, news stories I read. They often begin in one direction, and then develop into something completely different.

For example, my book African Safari Bootcamp for Women developed from meeting a young woman who was laid off from a position in human resources with a company. She became disenchanted with the corporate environment, so she began traveling the world working on Organic Farms and searching for a new career.

The story evolved into a group of professional women going on safari in Africa to improve their lives. They are taken hostage by terrorists and escape, only to have to survive in the wilderness on their own without food, water, or weapons.
Ken Wasil Write and write and write and write. Keep a journal and write several times a week. It will assist you in reflecting on your life and in becoming the person you want to be.

If you want to be a blogger, jump right in and start blogging. If you want to write a novel, memoir, short story, or best seller start putting your ideas down on paper or onto that database today.

We are all too critical of ourselves and are better writers than we think we are.
Ken Wasil The best part about reading for me is being taken on a journey to another setting and world. Authors such as Diana Gabaldan in the Outlander Series, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens are masters at this.

To be able to create a reality like this and provide a vehicle for others to travel on is intensely rewarding.
Ken Wasil I wrote on this topic in my book The Quick Guide for Writing for the Web and English Usage. I use brainstorming techniques such as "freewriting" to "move" through the blocks and get the words and energy flowing. In freewriting you writing continuously, letting the words flow without being concerned about grammar, spelling or editing.

I'll also take breaks from writing, a weekend at my favorite resort, or a vacation to a far off land where I get outside of myself and have a new perspective on my life and writing.
