Ideas spring into my mind from people I meet, work and travel I do, news stories I read. They often begin in one direction, and then develop into something completely different.
For example, my book African Safari Bootcamp for Women developed from meeting a young woman who was laid off from a position in human resources with a company. She became disenchanted with the corporate environment, so she began traveling the world working on Organic Farms and searching for a new career.
The story evolved into a group of professional women going on safari in Africa to improve their lives. They are taken hostage by terrorists and escape, only to have to survive in the wilderness on their own without food, water, or weapons.
