Tim Martin Taking delivery of stories that Come from God-knows-where.
Tim Martin I suffer from writer's gush. Too much. Too many ways to get it on the page without really adding more than just words to the story.

Most likely the result of writing on demand for clients for 40 years.

It can stall my process when I fall in love with phrases, that while nice, don't serve a good function in the story.

Tim Martin Many things everyday.

Myself. Trying to get out of my own way.

My second novel, The River's Soul. A beautiful story, conceived by my partner (she's a singer song writer and Audible book narrator), about the eternal power that moves between people when they're sure about who they are, what they should do, and stay true to that conviction no matter what.

A children's picture book, Kule's Cool Cat Coat, with a Japanese artist based in Tokyo. An Idaho/Tokyo connection. A fun project that's getting close.

Producing a show, also along with my Partner) for our community supported radio station. We're using local actors to read excerpts of books, to encourage reading across many genres.
Tim Martin I think you mean a writer aspiring to be a success.

Success usually based on the judgement of others.

If you're a writer you are. The tricky part is deciding what success in writing is. Figure that one out early and be happy.

(I'm still working on it).
Tim Martin I find "getting" inspired impossible. I think there is a huge difference between getting and BEING.

Inspiration comes over the hill and finds you if you're open to it.

It's kind of like looking for love or trying to get pregnant. Usually doesn't work.

Relax. Be quiet. Take a nap after lunch. Get offline for an hour everyday. Listen to Copeland or Mozart. Write down your ideas and dreams on the back of an envelope and then GET the info you need to write.

The most fun thing on earth.
Tim Martin
I have close friends who have adopted two horribly abused little girls.

They, unlike most of us, did not sit by and do nothing. In spite of the risks involved, they took action. It has not been an easy thing. The generosity and love they have shown is one of the most inspiring things I have ever witnessed. That love, contrasted with the rage they have felt as the depth of the damage done to their new daughters has become apparent, is the yin and yang of life concentrated into almost tangible form.

We all experience regrets and doubts about the choices we make; particularly around the ones we love.

Wouldn't it be great if we found the courage to make a sacrifice, do the right things, and get a second chance?
