Daniel S. Fettinger Calvin and Hobbes, because they both meet each day with a sense of adventure and wonder, but each meets it with an entirely different perspective. Calvin's unbridled entitlement and ego coupled with Hobbes' elegant simplicity make those comics sparkle with a subtle depth that most don't even aspire to.
Daniel S. Fettinger Which one? The most recent one I've written or the most recent one I've published?

For the most recently published story (Sophichkin's Mountain), I believe it came from a conversation with the real life Sophichkin about how only she could decide if she was happy or sad, and how the power of attitude and perspective are greater than any external force.

Which is a very self-helpy way of saying that she informed me that I was making her unhappy by allowing the utter lack of candy in her life to continue at that moment. I disagreed and told her that only she had the power to make herself unhappy about said lack of candy.

Then I bought her some damned candy.
Daniel S. Fettinger I walk. Then I listen. Then I type.
Daniel S. Fettinger Getting the next eight Sophichkin stories illustrated and contemplating something a little beefier for the next little universe my keyboard decides to shine a candle on.
Daniel S. Fettinger I have none. What is their advice for me?

Maybe "don't do it for the money."
Daniel S. Fettinger Creating little universes in my head and watching them flesh out as the pages fill.
Daniel S. Fettinger I find that walking helps me a great deal. Basically anything that helps clear the mind and gets me away from the keyboard for awhile is of great use. I've never been one to subscribe to the "just start writing" school of thought, as that typically just results in a long string of very cramped feeling words appearing on my screen. Making sure that I have access to my laptop and a quiet spot for when inspiration does hit is also key for me.
