W.S. Carmichael I've been writing professionally for four years, but I've written for my personal use for much longer than that.
When I'm starting a new book, I generally let the characters tell the story. I may start out with a general situation in mind, but once the main characters begin to take shape they take over the direction the storyline will go. The series I am working on now began with a short scene where the female lead becomes frustrated with a woman who is the epitome of a ditzy female. That one scene turned into a three book series.
I can't wait to see what the characters have in mind.
W.S. Carmichael I try to write a book I would like to read. At Long Last unfolded itself to me as I began to flesh out the characters. I would close my eyes and envision what Dylan or Jenni Lynn would do in a given situation. From there, I would imagine the possible outcomes and choose my favorite.
W.S. Carmichael I'm currently working on the second book in the Laurel Creek series. I'm excited to tell Matt and Emma's story. I feel more comfortable as a writer of romance novels than I did when I started At Long Last, so the process is smoother now. I think my readers will love it.
