Morgan Nikola-Wren Write anyways. Every day. No matter what. Some of my favorite things I've written have been things that came to me on days that I really didn't want to write, but made myself do so anyways. Often, writer's block comes when you're scared to write something, or when you think what you have in your head is no good. Tell that voice to go fly a kite, and then put words to the "not good enough" bits anyways. And while you're at it, explore why exactly you think they aren't good enough. And write that down, too. Often the stuff that scares you is the really good stuff. Seriously, if you're terrified to write it, you're off to a good start.
Morgan Nikola-Wren Never stop reading. Read anything you can get your hands on.

And, scary as it can be, ask for constructive criticism for people you know are going to flay your book alive...lovingly. An audience will always be there to read your book, so don't rush for the sake of having something out there. (My first book was put out over five years after I decided that I would like to publish a collection of poetry.) Take the time to ensure you are putting forth a quality work that is as good as you can possibly make it.
Morgan Nikola-Wren Being able to write up all my book purchases as research on my taxes.
