I'm currently finishing up edits of the first book of a planned duology. The book is called To Speak With the Stars and the duology is called Apprenticed to the Gods. The series takes place in a queer-normative dark high fantasy world and includes various mythical and original creatures and races. There are three types of magic in this universe: star magic (manipulating heat and fire), ice magic, and mind magic (telepathy and mind control). The Apprenticed to the Gods series is big on found family, diverse rep (queer, disabled, neurodivergent, cultural, mental health), funny banter, best friends to lovers no-spice romance, and an overall hopeful vibe despite its darker themes.

Hi Marc, of course! I enjoyed how you worked humour into it so it wasn't too dark. And I really did hate the bad guys, haha.
That's kind of you to ask! I know we write in completely different genres, so I don't expect you to read/finish reading if it's not your thing (if you do, an honest review would be appreciated, even if it's DNF). Spiritborne is the first of an urban fantasy trilogy. Alternatively, The Contraption is a steampunk short story that may be a bit more to your liking. Thanks!

Read whenever you get the chance. Read more often than you write. Your mind will become used to the flow of effective writing. Then, when you sit down to write, it will come more naturally.

I think I have this figured out: strap the accordion against my neck (such as a violinist holds a violin) so I only require one hand to play it. An audiobook to listen to and a recording device to record a story at the same time. That leaves the other hand free for a weapon. I have yet to learn fencing, but I suppose it would!
