Tal M. Klein We went for a hybrid cover, it's not strictly a softcover: the cover is made of reinforced foil. It's pretty cool and durable.
Tal M. Klein Hah, I love the little details people find in the book! The interior design of the Kaffeine coffee shop was based on my own visit to a Turkish bazaar in the early 2000's. The soap sellers had their soaps hanging off ropes atop their stands, so that buyers could grab and smell the soaps without risk of them walking off with the wares in their hand.
Tal M. Klein On the night of November 7, 2016, Americans went to sleep believing the institutions and long-held ideals of their democracy were impermeable. The next day, Donald John Trump was elected the 45th president of the United States.
Tal M. Klein It took me 5 years to do The Punch Escrow. I'm aiming to do the next one in less than half that time 😉
Tal M. Klein Yes, there will definitely be an ebook version. You can pre-order it directly from Inkshares (the publisher) here: https://www.inkshares.com/books/the-p... (but if you'd rather wait it'll be available on Amazon on pub day)
Tal M. Klein I'm just grateful to have an outlet for my batshit crazy ideas.
Tal M. Klein I love reading about bleeding edge technology. Whenever I see something new and exciting, I try to imagine how that tech might evolve over the next century. I'm interested in both the scientific and anthropological impact of technology, so as long as humanity keeps innovating, I won't run out of inspiration.
Tal M. Klein I'm doing some early research for the sequel to The Punch Escrow.
Tal M. Klein Stream of consciousness will only get you so far. Find a technique for organizing your story. I use Blake Snyder's "Save The Cat!" to create beat sheets and map out the hero's journey.
Tal M. Klein In 2012, a coworker explained to me how teleportation actually worked and it blew my mind.

I asked something like: “So you’re saying every single time Scotty beamed up Kirk, he was killing him?”
“I’m afraid so,” came the response.
And my brain exploded.

That’s when I started researching teleportation. I felt a craving to solve that problem.
Tal M. Klein I timebox my writing time, meaning I have specific time which I set aside for writing. When the clock strikes Write O'clock, I have two options:

1. Work on creative stuff (yay!)

or if I've got writer's block,

2. Work on boring stuff I set aside for myself to work on while I was being creative.

For example, I hate describing people's clothing. I have no sense of fashion, thus it annoys me to no end having to describe anything that anyone in my book is wearing. So, I save that for "Writer's Block Tal." It's his job to do the stuff that "Creative Tal" doesn't want to do.
Tal M. Klein I'm very excited to read Scott Meyer's Run Progam, Andy Weir's Artemis, Robert Kroese's The Last Iota, Daniel Wilson's The Clockwork Dynasty, and (should he ever get around to releasing it this year) George R. R. Martin's Winds of Winter.
