Easily the best thing is when someone ( not family and friends) reads it and tells you they really enjoyed it. You may read what you have written and think it is really good, but until a stranger agrees with you, you can never be sure.

I actually never have a problem thinking of something to write. Obviously it's not always great stuff, but i just write every day, then gradually edit out what i don't want. The main thing is to just write .

For a start I love humour. I was born in Birmingham in the 1950's, just like Dennis, so I suppose that's where the inspiration came from. People have asked me if the character is based on me, obviously I like to think not, but like Dennis, I am very accident prone and every time I trip over something or accidentally break something, my wife has taken to calling me Dennis.
