It all comes down to my love of Italy and all things Italian. Five years ago I visited the Ligurian town Lerici, a lovely seaside resort where my Italian cousin lives. It was during this trip that the idea for Bay of Killers originated. Lerici is often referred to as the Bay of Poets due to the presence of the 19th century romantic poets, Shelley and Byron, who wrote some of their most famous poems there. It didn't take me long to twist the title to match my story and the Bay of Killers was born.

My new book, Bay of Killers, and a sequel to Fatal Consequences, is due to be published tomorrow (27 July 2018) and I'm delighted with the response I have received so far - pre-publication. Bay of Killers is a flight of fancy, an Italian adventure, full of action and suspense, murder and confrontation. Its a crime thriller and a roller coaster.
My third book, A Goan Tragedy, is set in India - my second home - and is proceeding well. It's been interrupted several times this year due to one thing or another, but I am hoping to complete it in the Autumn - for publication in 2019. It's the third of the series and a cracking story.

I love the freedom that writing elicits. It's a lonely experience but also a very pleasurable one. You build a new world with new characters and you live out their lives for them. The process takes you deep within the psyche of Man and helps you understand yourself; what motivates and excites you. You also have no one over your head telling you what to do. And that's pure freedom.

I go for a walk in the country or down by the river. I find a complete change of location or meeting new people helps to revitalise the mind. It's only then that new ideas and inspiration can emerge.
