Goodreads asked Paul Sinclair:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Paul Sinclair It all comes down to my love of Italy and all things Italian. Five years ago I visited the Ligurian town Lerici, a lovely seaside resort where my Italian cousin lives. It was during this trip that the idea for Bay of Killers originated. Lerici is often referred to as the Bay of Poets due to the presence of the 19th century romantic poets, Shelley and Byron, who wrote some of their most famous poems there. It didn't take me long to twist the title to match my story and the Bay of Killers was born.
