Lindsey S. Frantz Hi Solenn! Yes, actually! It's been a long process, as I started a new job and a new graduate program right after The Upworld was published, but the sequel is just over halfway finished! I'm hoping to have it done in the next few months, and then it's off to the publisher! Thanks for being so patient, and thanks for checking in!
Lindsey S. Frantz This answer has many layers. The seed for this book idea came to me in college (so a million years ago). I was about 18, and decided I wanted to write a book, so I wrote a long winded, winding story that did nothing and went no where. But it was book length! Then, about 8 years later, I wrote two short stories--one about a telekinetic girl who lives in the woods and another about spelunking. Somehow, after that, it occurred to me that these two stories were actually the basis for the characters in that first novel, and I built it from there!
Lindsey S. Frantz I read, I go out into the world and experience it, I interact with people I love. It also depends on my mood. I have to be open to inspiration and in a good headspace, but once I am, anything could inspire me--it might be a gorgeous sunset, my son's laughter, a bug (or as he says, a "buggabugga"), or a great movie.
Lindsey S. Frantz Currently I'm working on a sequel to my first novel, THE UPWORLD. Hopefully I'll have it done in a few months! But writing quickly has never been my strong suit. I let the story tell itself in its own time.
Lindsey S. Frantz Write a lot. Read a LOT. And then write some more.
Lindsey S. Frantz The chance to create and explore worlds. And getting to know my characters as I write them. They're fascinating people!
Lindsey S. Frantz I try to choose a scene from whatever I'm writing that's been in my head a while, even if it's not the next scene in the book, and work on that. Even if I end up trashing it, working on something I can't get out of my head helps me push past the block and continue with the story!
Lindsey S. Frantz I would most definitely go to Hogwarts and just explore. I'd walk the halls, talk to the paintings, enjoy some food in the Great Hall, and maybe have a butterbeer down in Hogsmeade!
