At The Gate is actually inspired by my own life, and a time I stayed at a strange hotel years ago.
I also grew up in a big old creaky house which I definitely could spin some tales out of. I remember being home alone as a teenagers and hearing the very distinct sound of a cat meowing, but only ever in the hallway between rooms. Creeped me out for ages!

I'd go to Middle Earth and immediately be eaten by an orc.

The scariest thing about seeing a shadow barely move past the frosted glass of my front door, is that I'm standing outside, about to lock myself in.

On electric, mostly heavy metal. On acoustic, folk rock and finger style stuff. Do you play?

Just write. Keep writing. Don't overthink it. Keep writing and writing. Get it out there, but by all means, keep writing. Don't get caught up in sales, don't worry. Just. Keep. Writing.

I'm working on the second book in The Columbus Archives series (The Consequence of Loyalty being #1). I am also working on another standalone book that I don'treally know how to describe. It's a drama about life and death, about memories, about having lived, about seeing your life flash before your eyes.
I am also working on a huuuuge fantasy project, a collaboration, that won't see the light of day for many many years.

I find it helps doing lots of other things, having a boring day job, or just keeping busy. That usually when I have all my best idea, and I keep writing stuff down on post-its and just waiting for when I can get home and put it down on paper. Also taking time to read, watch TV and play video games is great inspiration, because there are so many great stories being told everywhere.

The best thing must be to know that no matter how few, or how small an audience, someone is being affected by a story that you have told them. To me that is priceless.

I've learnt the hard way, that I am incapable of getting through writer's block in most cases. I have to work around it, so my best advice is to go do something else.
I usually play and write music, to get the artistic vibes flowing. Lyrics are so much easier than fiction, because they can be incoherent and still be so much. Playing music as I sing a long is often also very helpful to get the words out, they are kind of drawn out by the music.

I'm currently reading my way through a lot of Warcraft novels (I grew up playing Warcraft I and Warcraft II and the main series of novels are absolutely great!)
I am also hoping to start the Dark Tower series by Stephen King, some time soon!

I remember getting the idea for The Consequence of Loyalty, when I was working on my father's farm. I had read that unmotivated crimes are the hardest to solve, so I was thinking what if someone shot someone for no reaon. And what if that person surrendered immediately? And what if that person worked in law enforcement? And what if the person they shot was their friend, who also worked in law enforcement?
That's how it all came to be, and I worked my way through the story from there.
