I am working on two books: a novel described in an earlier question. I got the idea by thinking about how God exists in all of us and that there truly is a divine plan for everything that happens -- good and bad.
I also am working on a non-fiction book called "Dare to be Spiritual." It is a challenge to people for whom organized religion no longer works to discover a new way of living through love, forgiveness and gratitude. It is based on the story of my experience, including how a cancer diagnosis became my greatest gift.

Music inspires me. So does nature and art. I can hear a song, or see a royal poinciana in bloom, or visit a museum of contemporary art and my creative juices will be stirred to think of a line of dialogue or a plot twist or the idea for my next book. Sometimes I can't even wait to get home to start writing.
Traveling and spending time learning about other people and how they live also inspires me.

I am currently working on the story of a couple whose marriage is crumbling after a devastating loss. Each deals with their grief in a very different and destructive way, resulting in a life-changing and horrific moment that could be the turning point they need to find their way back to each other. The story explores the existence of God, the power of forgiveness, miracles disguised as everyday occurrences, and the lengths we go to try to escape our pain.

Never give up your dream. The competition is tough and finding a way to stand out is even tougher -- but it is not impossible. Write, though, because you love it and can't imagine NOT doing it. If you have to be published, that's great. If not, you will still be a better person for painting words onto a page.

Taking a walk, preferably outside in nature, helps a lot. I also meditate and pray. Knowing there are times that writer's block occurs, I try to make for it during those times when I am really "in the zone." I can get lost in writing. Before I know it, hours have passed!

I am able to do something I love more than anything in the world as a way to entertain and inspire people.
