My book is my diary about being a caregiver to my mom, It started out as a handwritten journal which later became my blog. I was encouraged by a few people from my Alzheimers support group and my dad to publish my blog. It took me 3-4 years to actually work up the courage to publish. To date I have received nothing but positive feedback and have been told by readers that they love the format of my book.

My initial inspiration was my mom who had dementia, her final diagnosis after being terminally ill for over 30 years. I was so worried about her after her dementia diagnosis, how it would affect my dad and his health since he was Mom's primary caregiver, and how my sister and I would handle the current and future needs of our parents. After that my subject matter was any of the thoughts I had running through my head that wouldn't go away until I jotted them down.

I believe that I cannot offer any advice since I am not a 'real' writer/author.

Since I don't consider myself a writer my answer would be that it's therapeutic for me. I write about things that are on my mind that I cannot get past unless I jot these things down either on paper or in my blog. I also use my blog for announcements regarding Alzheimers/dementia events.

Writer's block isn't really a thing for me since I'm not really a writer. I write/blog whenever I have thoughts that I need to get on 'paper' so I can get on with my day.
