Christina Enquist It was at the end of a meditation session that the story idea came to me. I quickly wrote down the story line and spent 3 months (weekends and after work) writing. The editing part took years.
Christina Enquist I just get these flashes of different stories to write. It happens in the grocery store, in the shower, when I'm eating, and other moments. There isn't one specific task or approach I take to get inspired. I basically write down the story lines once I get the flash. Because I write part time, I can't seem to keep up with the story lines that I have jotted down for various books.

Christina Enquist Write, write, write. Read, read, read. If you want to become a better writer read books on developing the craft and read books in your genre. Pay attention to how the genre authors use the various techniques and tools you learn about in your craft books. Be open to feedback.
