Michael Leask There is a freedom that I feel in writing. I am writing something that I want to read and get the thrill through the experience. I love the creativity and collaboration that I can have on some of my writing to expand the universe that I am creating in my books and eventually sharing with the world.
Michael Leask Don't give up. Write for at least 15 minutes a day, even if it's noted on your phone while in the washroom (hey, we're all there at points during the day :-D). Joking aside, don't give in to the frustration that you need to produce something and let go of the voice in your head pushing or bullying you. Take the time to nurture what you write, because, in the end, it is your legacy.
Also, I think, craft the story for what you want to read, not others. There are always going to be critics and people that love or hate what you write, but if love it, if you believe in it for you, you will make not only something that is unique but something people will enjoy as well.
Michael Leask I'm finicky at times. Sometimes it's a location, the weather, the excitement from the chapter I just wrote, or the feedback, or a little note from my wife in the morning with a Nespresso pod she picked out for me sometimes imbues me with so much positivity that the writing is inspired.

I do like going to quiet coffee shops and working on my iPad Gen2 (it's slow for most programs forcing me not to procrastinate). When I am in between thoughts, I don't realize instantly that I people watch, then a new phrase or way of saying something pops into my head to which I write down for the story.

Going to the gym and using the cardio machines, talking with my wife also inspires me to write.
Michael Leask My wife and I began working on making video games and animation at home and the opportunity for writing became self-evident. We began working on ideas for a trilogy book (the first of which will be released later this year) and I began writing my idea for my story Ryder On The Pass. I love Sci-Fi and wanted to write an idea about a medical doctor on a ship that is by herself with something lurking in the shadows but unknown if it is her mind or something else.
Michael Leask I find that writer's block occurs with me because I don't know where I'm headed. I might have a faint idea, but it is like navigating in the dense fog hoping that what your looking for will suddenly appear. I deal with writer's block in two ways. One, I let the story be. That means if I don't write anything for a week or two, so be it - let it simmer, but all the while thinking about the story and asking questions to yourself about who is your protagonist/antagonist/plot, who or what do they stand for and what they are really about? Is what I have written really what I'm trying to achieve. I find the more you ask the questions, the more the dense fog becomes lighter. Two - let go. I find as I write, an idea or detail that I am sure about that needs to be written, sometimes just needs to be removed because it is no longer organic to the story and characters. It becomes forced and doesn't have the same appeal as it did in my head so long ago.
Michael Leask I am currently working on three projects. I am working on a video game that is a space shooter arcade style that will be available on multiple platforms. However, the concurrent project is the most exciting of all and is the beginning of a trilogy. I am working with my wife, Dolly, writing it- she is the primary writer. I am also working on a promotional trailer for it which is a large endeavour on my part, but exciting for the promotion of the book none-the-less.
