Luminata was inspired by the area in Germany near my grandparents home. There are crater lakes, magical forests, and amazing castles. I've spent many summers as a kid wandering through those places and being enchanted with the beauty of the area. One day, I said what if there used to be a castle in the middle of the crater lake we used to swim and it was submerged by a curse? Then my mind started to spin the tale until I could no longer ignore it.

I'm working on the the novels in the Meclauks Kingdom series. Book 1, 'Luminata', is almost ready for publication, and book 2 is being outlined. I also have several short stories that I am working on within the world of the Meclauks Kingdom.

One of the best pieces of wisdom I heard from a prolific writer is to take the term 'aspiring' out of your title. You either write or you don't. If you put your words on paper, or on a computer screen, and you are writing a story, you ARE a writer. Own it.

The best thing about being a writer is being able to take the story that is running rampant in my brain and put it down on paper for others to share. I love seeing my characters and places come to life. It's all about being creative.

When I am having trouble with a particular scene I take a break and either spend time outdoors, read, or I'll spend time on a different writing project. Sometimes it takes a little subconscious thinking to figure out what the issue is and then suddenly whatever was the 'block' gets figured out.
