Hi there! Sorry, I just saw this!
For me, what really helped me delve into reading was to find a genre or genres I really liked, tropes, styles, and finding authors or series that fit my preference.
It was not easy at first--I tried a lot of genres until I found the ones I like. i would recommend reading around (haha it's like dating around) until something sticks. And if you find an author you like--jackpot!
And...funny enough, do not be embarrassed by the types of books you like lol Like sometimes I like reading chick-flicks, super cheesy romance, steamy -i-hope-no-one-sees-the-title sexy books.
I hope this helps! Reading to me is an escape and a way for me to really get lost in another world.

It all depends on the book you NEED in that moment in your life!
Inflorescence is my journey to finding my voice as a writer, that comes along with the growing pains
night-bloomer is raw, unfettered emotions
Daydreamer, in all essence, is clarity. Finding clarity was a journey.
Weightless is me navigating this new feeling of peace

for inflorescence, i wanted to do a timeline of my life–from birth to now. i needed to do it–it was very cathartic. i have a tendency to bottle everything up so i used this book to put all of my emotions/fears/dreams/insecurities on paper. one day, i was looking up botany terms and saw "inflorescence", which means the process of flowering. i thought it fit perfectly.
In my darkest times, i used to draw flowers all over my bedroom walls with chalk. i was almost obsessed with filling my room with flowers at a certain point. I would also write poetry on the walls and they always were about a flower had once been strong and lovely but was not reduced to nothing because of others. it was poetry that encouraged me to get help and it was poetry that made me realize that i deserved better.
night-bloomer plays along with one of the themes in inflorescence–that i am not like others, that i "bloom"/shine when no one else is around or expects it. i decided with night-bloomer, to have a more serious tone. i wanted to be very direct to "night-bloomers" because i feel like we get overlooked because of societal expectations.
as a society, we praise those who pretend to be something they are not and those you try to be perfect. I say "f" that!
i want people who embrace their "flaws" to shine. i want those who are dreamers, wanderers, introverts, the artsy types, to not feel afraid to step forward into the light. i want the people who i mentioned earlier, who strive for perfection, to love themselves first and tell society to suck it!

write. write until your fingers cramp. write even if it does not sound good. write what's in your heart. write what you wish you could say. write when you are sad/happy/excited/confused. just write.

being able to connect and touch the hearts of people from all over <3 poetry is universal and it's amazing how someone from the other side of the world can feel the same way.
