The idea came from the same place as the ideas for all of my books, I ask myself a "Wouldn't it be cool if...?" question.
So my books that are out at the moment started with a random thought one day of, "Wouldn't it be cool if in exchange for letting a ghost continue to live through you, you get to use their talents and knowledge as your own?"
From that point in it's a case of asking myself more questions about how this would work, what kind of conflicts having this ability could lead to... things like that. Sooner or later enough of these questions will have been asked that the answers will start to form a story in my head.

I've recently released the second book in my Dreams of Reality series, so I'm currently working on promoting that and planning out book three.

Luckily writer's block isn't something I struggle with. If anything I have too many ideas to contend with and have to fight myself for which one to put down.
However, as a golden rule whenever I'm struggling with anything writing related, I find that just writing down anything helps, as the process of writing gets the creative juices flowing and often leads to the answers I'm seeking.
