It usually takes around six months if you include the editing process. It definitely helps me to have a deadline to work towards - otherwise I think I’d never finish! Sometimes it can be stressful, but I often lock myself away fir the last few days and get it done.

Hello! Yes, it's the same book. The publisher had changed the name to My Silent Daughter. The audiobook name will be changed soo n too. But, yes, it is the same book and thank you for purchasing - I really hope you enjoy it!

I also write a blog and poems. If the novel isn't flowing, I will write something for my blog instead. Sometimes going for a walk or swim can help. If I'm really desperate, I'll wash up.

Read a lot of contemporary books in your genre and don't be afraid of doing a creative writing course or reading books about the craft. I struggled with plotting and found John Yorke's 'Into the Woods' invaluable. I also took a self-edit course with The Writer's Workshop (now Jericho Writers) which was the best thing I've ever done for my writing.

My young daughter loves Princess stories and I hate the ones where the girl is saved by the boy. From this, I got the idea for Rory (Aurora) and Belle (Claribel).
