My mother's family come from the Arkansas Ozarks. I grew up hearing many wonderful stories from my grandparents about their lives and their family's stories.....particularly my great-grandmother who overcame the physical abuse she suffered from her stepmother. Years ago, I began to develop an idea about a sixteen year old girl from the Ozarks in the early 1900's who discovers she was kidnapped at two years old.

I've dreamed of writing ever since I was about 12 years old during a long road trip to Colorado. While we were traveling, I started writing a story in a notebook to pass the time. The more I wrote, the more I love it.

My sequel to Lane Steen is unfinished. I started it quite awhile ago, and I'm planning to continue it soon. Right now, I'm working to get the word out about Lane Steen.

The best thing is.....writing. Getting to know my own characters as the story develops. The second best thing is having other readers interact with them and get as excited as I am about it.

I've learned to just keep writing, to push through those dry places until inspiration returns. If that doesn't work, reading a good book sometimes helps to spark my imagination again.
