John Edward Marszalkowski Initially people rejoiced to learn that there was, in fact, an afterlife. But the fears that no one dare speak was if finding proof of eternal suffering for some was in any way evidence of paradise for others.
John Edward Marszalkowski I read Homer's "The Odyssey" when I was a teenager, and Circe's palace sounded like it would have been an ideal place to visit, provided Hermes gives me some moly first.

Today I'd love a fictional version of the world I already live in, where it's always 72 degrees outside with no humidity.
John Edward Marszalkowski I started a bunch of books that I didn't finish this summer. One that I did finish was "On Love and Frugality" by Allison Romain-Dika. I "know" her from Twitter (@DikaRomain), and I really liked her memoirs.
John Edward Marszalkowski I get inspired to write when I want to understand something. Maybe it's just my thoughts I want to read. Perhaps I'm trying to learn something outside of my head. But for whatever reason, I learn better when I have to teach it back. Sometimes I talk to myself just because I have to explain what I'm learning, or I won't absorb it. I hope I don't come across as a know-it-all. I write with the assumption that someone might want to learn from what I'm "teaching," and that helps me understand it.
John Edward Marszalkowski I'm currently journaling for a little self-improvement experiment I'm doing. If it works, you'll see a book on it in the future. If it doesn't work, you'll never hear another thing about it.
John Edward Marszalkowski Write the books that you wish existed.
John Edward Marszalkowski I don't sleep when I'm wide awake. I don't eat when I feel stuffed. I don't run when I'm not in a hurry. I don't sit on the toilet when I don't have to go. I don't flirt with people I'm not attracted to. I don't write anything when I don't have ideas pouring out of my head. That's the natural way to deal with writer's block. Just don't write anything.
John Edward Marszalkowski I had a dream that I died and people forgot who I was. I woke up and realized that it wouldn't be a bad idea to time-capsule all my thoughts and opinions... just in case.
