Goodreads asked John Edward Marszalkowski:

How do you get inspired to write?

John Edward Marszalkowski I get inspired to write when I want to understand something. Maybe it's just my thoughts I want to read. Perhaps I'm trying to learn something outside of my head. But for whatever reason, I learn better when I have to teach it back. Sometimes I talk to myself just because I have to explain what I'm learning, or I won't absorb it. I hope I don't come across as a know-it-all. I write with the assumption that someone might want to learn from what I'm "teaching," and that helps me understand it.
