Susie Murphy Hi Anushka, I don't have a release date for Book 5 yet but I'm working hard on it and it will definitely come out later this year! I'm delighted you're looking forward to it and I'll do my very best not to keep you waiting too long for it!
Susie Murphy That's a great question, Mariia! I started writing stories when I was eleven but throughout my teens I kept giving up on them and putting them away in a drawer because they weren't good enough. I told myself that was the end of it and I wouldn't try any more. But no matter how many times I did that, I inevitably found myself opening the drawer again. So I think that was when I realised it was an impulse inside me that I simply couldn't ignore.

However, I had a long way to go yet - it took more than a decade of writing and revising before I actually published my first book. And it wasn't until I received the feedback from my editor on my second manuscript that I truly started to get "that feeling". She returned it to me earlier than her planned deadline because she was so satisfied with it and that was the point when I felt I had learned so much and really improved as a writer. While there are still doubts and always more to learn, that was definitely a memorable moment for me. Thanks for asking, Mariia!
Susie Murphy Now that I've finally sent A Class Apart out into the world, I need to start focusing on A Class Entwined, the second book in my historical fiction series A Matter of Class. I do have a complete manuscript but it will require another draft or two before I'm happy with it. Coming 2019!
Susie Murphy Don't wait for the perfect day of inspiration to strike. Although it's not as glamorous, the best way to make progress is to get into a regular routine every day. Even if you just write a few hundred words, it's always a step forwards. You'll be surprised how those words start to add up!
Susie Murphy I first started writing A Class Apart sixteen years ago, when I was only sixteen years old. It's almost hard to remember exactly how it all began - I just put pen to paper and scribbled about a boy and a girl falling in love across the class divide. It grew and grew from there, expanding so much until I realised I was writing a whole series! But it all began with those first scribbles (written in neon orange ink in a Buffy the Vampire Slayer notebook).
