Kay L. Moody I get a lot of ideas when I'm supposed to be falling asleep at night. I keep a little notebook with story ideas on the nightstand next to my bed. Each idea usually starts with just a sentence or two, but then they evolve to epic plots with scores of characters. I never really have a shortage of ideas. My bigger problem is sticking to one idea at a time when I have so many other good ones I want to explore.
Kay L. Moody My best advice is to finish! It took me six years to write my first book, so I definitely understand how hard that first draft can be. But no one can read your book unless you have a book. No matter how far from perfect it is, do your best to finish the first draft. And when your whole book is done and edited, move on to the next book.
Kay L. Moody Right now I'm working on book 2 of the Truth Seer Trilogy. It's set to come out on January 7, 2019!
Kay L. Moody The best part of writing is doing what I love! I've been writing stories for as long as I can remember. It's amazing to be able to do something I love and actually make a living from it.

Another great thing is the flexibility. I can write anytime and any place, as I long as I have my laptop.
Kay L. Moody I wish I had an easy answer because writer's block is the worst! The truth is, I do nothing except force myself to write. Even when every word is complete crap. But usually by the time I go back and edit, I'm feeling more inspired and I can turn the crap into something slightly less putrid.
Kay L. Moody Truth Seer started out as a picture in my head. Most of it I used, some of it had to be adjusted as the story unfolded. In that picture, a girl crept through dark hallways with dangerous traps. Everything was opposite of the way it looked: the good things were bad and bad things were good. Only the girl could see what was really in the hallways and she had to convince the others with her to not be afraid. A small crop of daisies looked friendly and inviting, but they were actually poisonous spikes that would instantly kill anyone who touched them. Also, in one room sat the most comfortable bed in the world. But instead of a bed, it looked like a deep, never ending pit. Everyone had to put complete trust in this girl who could tell it was actually safe. That picture sparked more ideas and many things fell into place.

Besides that picture, the very first scene I imagined was the one that takes place in Chapter 25. Basically the entire story and conflict revolves around that scene. It was a lot of fun to write it like that!

The second book comes out January 7, 2019! :)
