Steven D'Adamo "The Warden of Everfeld: Memento" grew out of two distinct ideas. One was a general world-building idea for a fantasy universe. I was just taking notes about this universe long before I had any characters or stories in mind.

Then, separately, I had an idea for a story about a relationship between two people. This became Aston and Jaed, and I realized I could fit their story within the universe I had created. Telling their story helped me hammer out the details of Everfeld and what it would look like, and the book grew from there.
Steven D'Adamo I free write whatever about whatever scene, character, or section I'm stuck on. I'll open Notepad on my computer and just start writing keywords, phrases, emotions, anything I want to convey in the section I'm stuck on. This free write generally turns into a basic outline of things I want the scene to achieve, and how to get there. If necessary, I'll brainstorm how the events of that scene impact the story going forward to ensure it's still going in the direction I want it to.

However, if this is not enough to get me unstuck, I'll move on to another scene. I often find that letting my notes stew in my brain for a bit can solidify the ideas I'm trying to convey. Once I come back to that scene, I have new ideas or a much clearer picture of how to write it.
Steven D'Adamo I'm working on my second novel, "The Warden of Everfeld: Legacy". This one is a follow-up fantasy adventure to "Memento", and will continue the stories of a few characters from my first book.
