I'll open Notepad on my computer and just start writing keywords, phrases, emotions, anything I want to convey in the section I'm stuck on. This free write generally turns into a basic outline of things I want the scene to achieve, and how to get there. If necessary, I'll brainstorm how the events of that scene impact the story going forward to ensure it's still going in the direction I want it to.

However, if this is not enough to get me unstuck, I'll move on to another scene. I often find that letting my notes stew in my brain for a bit can solidify the ideas I'm trying to convey. Once I come back to that scene, I have new ideas or a much clearer picture of how to write it.(less)
