By sitting at my keyboard! I'm a ghostwriter by trade, so you kind of have to get used to the grind. When I'm really struggling, though, I'll read a book that's in the genre I'm writing in. Make notes of things I really like about it, don't like, pull it to pieces. Let it sit in my mind and see if it sparks anything I can use in my own writing. And let's not forget talking to fellow authors! That always fires me up.

Well, it all spawned out of one scene, really--the first one. I was imagining someone coming back to England after a long time abroad. How they would feel. It's England, so it would probably rain. The reason she was coming back was for Tessa's wedding, and to play the cello at it, but I didn't know even who the love interest was. Then I thought: what would something dramatic that could happen next? Obviously the answer was to have a surly man almost crashing into you. A surly man who is the best man AND staying in the same place. The rest just fell into place from there :)
