There are constantly stories going through my head. I've not only planned out the rest of this current trilogy, but I have the vague notion a sequel trilogy that would take place 60 years later, and at least two other novel ideas that aren't related to Daughter of the Sun at all. The hard part is actually forcing myself to sit down and write my thoughts out on paper (or...errrrr.... the screen, as it were). For that I don't need inspiration, I need discipline. That part took years of practice and I'm still working on it.

Oh I'm a procrastinator. If I'm having writer's block, I do everything but write. I'll watch some TV, play some online poker or Words with Friends, read a book, get something to eat, go hang out with friends, anything BUT thinking about writing. I find that if I don't try too hard or think about it too much, inspiration will eventually hit me on its own. But, that's just me, not saying this works for everyone.

It's a good outlet for me. If I wasn't a writer, then what the heck would I do with all these crazy stories and characters and weirdness that's always coming into my head?

I know this sounds cliché, but never give up. Even if you make it all the way into your 40s without publishing a novel! I don't believe anyone thinks they are a writer when they are really not. Keep working at it until it happens for you.

The sequel to Daughter of the Sun, tentatively titled The Dragon Rider. I'm just getting to the good part now, and hope to have the first draft ready for beta readers by October/November-ish.

Oh God. It's hard to say. I first came up with this idea 15 years ago. I do believe it was part Ursula K. LeGuin and part Robert Jordan that influenced the story in the beginning. But as the book evolved, I was influenced by a variety of sources, not excluding world events that were taking place at the time of my writing.
