Interesting question. Unfortunately, the answer seems to be . . . it doesn't really. At least not in ways that I can readily identify. The exception is a couple of books in my backlog, which are partially or mostly set not just in my home state of Virginia, but in my (at that point) hometown! Otherwise, any influence is probably just things that I assume are normal and universal but might be less universal than I think, in which case you and my other readers are more likely to pick up on them than I am!

Hi, Kendra! My favorite fairy tale is a tie between Rapunzel and the Twelve Dancing Princesses. I enjoy the storylines of both, I think both have been retold in some very interesting ways, and both are fun to play with in retellings of my own.

Hi, Matthew! Nope, not a spoiler. Currently, I'm editing Mechanical Heart, a steampunk retelling of Rapunzel that I hope to have ready in time for the Arista Challenge Golden Braids release. After that, well, we'll have to wait and see.
