Inspiration to write comes from many sources. Sometimes, it's a dream that gets me thinking about something, and other times it can be an event I learn about through the news. I start taking the idea and rolling it around in my head, then sit with a big cup of coffee nearby and start doodling some notes, asking questions, and doing the research. The further I get into the story, the more inspired I am to keep working on it.

Write as much as you can but also become an avid reader. Read everything you are interested in, that you can learn from, and that grabs your interest. It also helps to read things that are outside the areas you want to write about - it provides you with different perspectives to see the world, and your writing, from.

I think writer's block is a fallacy we use to explain procrastination and a lack of clarity. Once I am clear on what I want to write about, there's no stopping the words from coming.

I'm working on a new Morgan Winfeld story. She is a Canadian spy who likes to get the job done, and she struggles with taking time off where there is so much to do. She doesn't spend a lot of time on herself and she's been through a lot, so she's a little love starved and slightly broken. Morgan's not one of those tall, leggy, high heeled spies with tumbling locks of hair that you see in the movies - she's a 40-something working woman who prefers her jeans and t-shirts and a pair of boots so nothing gets in her way.
