One of the most rewarding things about being a writer is helping to make a positive difference. People have used my poems for meditation and reflection and some readers have told me that during troubled times some of my poems have brought them comfort.
I am also delighted that I can use my writing and photography to help raise funds for animal rehoming shelters.

My writing is spontaneous and organic and closely linked with my photography. I only write when the inspiration is there and am happy editing images or doing something else creative until another poem finds me.

Most of my inspiration comes from spending so much time in nature. My husband and I enjoy hiking and walking with the dogs when poems keep tapping me on the shoulder. I usually carry a small notebook with me to jot down the initial idea, which I develop later when I am back home.
I tend to take photographs on our walks too and sometimes, when a poem didn't come during the walk itself, an idea lands on the page when I am running the images through Lightroom.

Several followers of 'Whippet Wisdom' had asked me if I could create a book with poems and photographs from my blog, To begin with I looked at the most popular poems and then I selected and reworked poems that I felt belonged together before matching them with my photographs. A few new poems and images were created to fill in the gaps and from there the book was born.
