The silence from those things that used to go bump in the night does not signal rest, peace, nor departure. They have merely learned to coexist among us, gradually syphoning our lifeforce until the time calamity's conductor summons them to death's drumline.

This is a tough question. Probably Camp Half-blood from the Rick Riordan novels. Now what I would do is probably try to hide and keep to myself since I don't have any God-like powers. If not there, maybe Black Diamond, from D.L. White's novel "A Beach Thing." She is one of my favorite world builders by far. In Black Diamond I'd get me a smoothie and head to the beach. Rinse & repeat each day.

Writer's block is an interesting idea. If I just can't find the words when I want to write, then I don't force it. I will close out of a .doc and find something else to do non-writing related.
Something I started at the top of '21 was writing multiple stories, preferably that are completely different. It really helped too. What this allows me to do is to have something to go to, when the words aren't flowing on a project. I'm a firm believer in always moving forward, keeping the writing juices flowing.

Creating and release. Writing is such an amazing skill/talent/blessing. You can create your own escape from reality. Breathing life into a story that resonates with others. You can also use writing as a release, to indirectly say or do things you may not be able to in real life. To let go of or work through emotions that have a grasp on you. For me, it's definitely the creating part.

Do...the...words. Write! I am a notorious overthinker. I am also a closet perfectionist. In knowing this, I understand dealing with bouts of second-guessing one's ability as a writer. As a creative, I see any first draft/variation of anything as a chance to spark something else. My advice to aspiring writers, is two-fold. First, write what you see/hear/feel as it comes. Second, "keep your eyes on your own paper," that's something I heard once from either Tasha L. Harrison or D.L. White (authors). In other words...
1.) give yourselves grace--write the way your brain tells you to
2.) DO NOT compare your work to others--tell your stories

After scrapping a novelette idea for NYE, I recently started the sequel to my most recent book, "Hey Auntie." Also, I am working through the first edits of a book I hope to release early next year. "Talk to Me Nice" is a story about a therapist who is indirectly forced to see and deal with personal issues (family, love, codependency) while aspiring to help others.

Are you ready for a boring or very "really Jsin" type of answer? I always want to write. I'm the cliche type of creative that has a need to create at all times. Here's an even more cliche but true response, I'm inspired by life. Things I see or hear. A desire to tell a story from a different perspective. Even self-imposed challenges to see if I can tell a certain story, or write a certain way.

For "Hey Auntie," I'll say the inspo came from my Twitter timeline. Seeing as I follow a number of other authors and book bloggers, a topic or trope that was heavy on my timeline in '21 was older woman/younger man. I told myself that I wanted to try writing a holiday book, picked Thanksgiving and the rest just fell into place.

Wow! Great question. Maybe the story behind my great grandfather on my mother's side. He is said to have been a savvy businessman who owned multiple businesses and homes. What happened to that property and wealth is something I have received very scant information on.
