Thanks for asking! I've always been a quiet, keep-to-myself kind of guy, but one of my goals this year is to be more active on social media. Follow along for announcements on new releases (and to let me know if I'm doing this whole social media thing right):

Thanks so much! I have an exciting update that I hope to be announcing soon. But I can say that a new book is coming.

There's definitely space for more story to be told from the world of Intercepts, either by continuing on with pre-established characters or by taking a peek around new dark corners. Though I'll admit that I have no concrete plans for a sequel at this time (which can always change — we writers are fickle beasts). I find horror sequels challenging to wrap my head around. Horror as a genre is so visceral, so intense, that it almost seems mean to throw characters back into that meat-grinder again. I guess that's why many horror franchises rely upon the antagonist to be the connective tissue between the stories (Jason, Freddy, Michael, etc). I do think if I were to do a sequel, I might try to do it in a slightly different genre to keep it fresh — much like how Terminator is a horror/thriller movie and T2 is an action movie. Maybe the Intercepts sequel would be a ghost story. Maybe it would be an espionage thriller. Maybe it goes the full slasher. Who knows. I'm just spitballing. In any case, there's fun to be had!

(view spoiler)[I read a lot more nonfiction than fiction, and I tend to just follow my interests wherever they take me. In this case, I was reading a book about the NSA and came away astounded by the lengths the government will go to in order to gather "intercepts" (i.e., peeks into the communications of other nations). I merged that idea with research I had already done on the CIA's infamous MK-Ultra program and that laid the foundation of the world. From there, the real key was finding the human component to build the story around, and when I landed on the idea of a man having to come to terms with choosing work over family, everything started falling into place. I can't believe it's been so long since my last book came out! The truth of the matter is that I had some projects in other fields come to fruition and they've drained my creative energies. But I've come to realize that writing books is my true passion and I'm now saying "no" to other things so that I can carve out time to do it. So, in answer to your question, I am working on a new book. This one will be a new take on possession/exorcist stories. And it should be out in 2026.

(view spoiler)[This is a fantastic question because it really gets to the reasons the story exists. I wanted to explore the "banality of evil" and Joe is the type of person who never had the moral fortitude to say "no." In a different life, with different opportunities, I don't see him as someone who would go out of his way to hurt others, but this is the path he found himself on and he'll have to live with the consequences. He's a bad man, a bad husband, and a bad father. The question of the story is "How far is he willing to go to right those wrongs?" And due to the extent of those wrongs, he's pretty much going to have to go to Hell if he wants any sort of redemption. So is he a villain or a victim? He's a human. A messy, ugly human who needs to decide if he has what it takes to fix what he broke in the world and what's broken in himself. (hide spoiler)]
