T.J. Payne is the author of:

IN MY FATHER'S BASEMENT: A serial killer novel
INTERCEPTS: A horror novel
THE VENUE: A wedding novel

T.J. Payne writes primarily in the horror and thriller genres. His writing style relies on a light touch, using lean, smooth prose to build and maintain the story's intensity. Through this style, Payne weaves in deeper themes and questions about human nature, particularly the subtle line between Good and Evil. Traditional Hero and Villain archetypes are often flipped in Payne's work. His characters may not always be likable, but their faults and sins are profoundly human.

Though I'll admit that I have no concrete plans for a sequel at this time (which can always change — we writers are fickle beasts). I find horror sequels challenging to wrap my head around. Horror as a genre is so visceral, so intense, that it almost seems mean to throw characters back into that meat-grinder again. I guess that's why many horror franchises rely upon the antagonist to be the connective tissue between the stories (Jason, Freddy, Michael, etc). I do think if I were to do a sequel, I might try to do it in a slightly different genre to keep it fresh — much like how Terminator is a horror/thriller movie and T2 is an action movie. Maybe the Intercepts sequel would be a ghost story. Maybe it would be an espionage thriller. Maybe it goes the full slasher. Who knows. I'm just spitballing. In any case, there's fun to be had!(less)

The truth of the matter is that I had some projects in other fields come to fruition and they've drained my creative energies. But I've come to realize that writing books is my true passion and I'm now saying "no" to other things so that I can carve out time to do it. So, in answer to your question, I am working on a new book. This one will be a new take on possession/exorcist stories. And it should be out in 2026.(less)
