Erin Casey I grew up hating mirrors. It's hard to watch the world behind glass when all anyone sees is themselves in the reflection and not me screaming to be let out.
Erin Casey This is such a hard question. I guess I'd love to travel to Hogwarts so I can use magic. I'd go to school and probably be your typical Hermione Granger and spend more time with my nose in books than experiencing the world around me.

Or...

I'd love to visit Mercy Thompson's world and either be a werewolf or a witch. Probably a witch. Ooooh, or a fae. Can you tell I love the idea of using magic?
Erin Casey Too many, hah. Here are just a couple!

"A Court of Thorns and Roses"
"Six of Crows"
"Firebrand"
Anything by Patricia Briggs
Erin Casey Cry.

Hah, while that's true sometimes, mostly I just try to find things that inspire me. Music, movies, books, a walk in nature...I try to do things that relax me and make me happy and will bring back my writing spirit. Sometimes it happens right away. Sometimes it's weeks before my writing brain returns. My best advice is, if you have writer's block, step away from your work for a bit. You may just need a break.
Erin Casey There's a moment when the world falls away, and my chest burns with passion, and I know this is exactly what I want to do for a living. Nothing else matters. I get lost in the writing and the world building, and I feel completely connected to the story. It doesn't happen often, but it's a euphoric feeling that I crave. It gives me purpose.

That, and the writing community. With so many writers out there, you'd think we'd end up competing against one another. But honestly, the best thing you can do is learn from your community and support other writers with their craft. It's an amazing feeling to be part of something bigger than the world you've created.
Erin Casey Find your literary community. Writing can be a very solitary endeavor, but when you find a writing community, you feel a little less alone. You have people who will support you through the hard times, and who you can brainstorm with you. And when you finally publish your work, you'll have an amazing community to back you. Never stop learning from the people around you.
Erin Casey The Purple Door District Book 2! Yes, PDD is going to be a series. AE Kellar and I are also working on the main canon, which we hope to publish in 2019 or 2020. I've also submitted a YA LGBT dragon fantasy book to two publishers to review, so I'm hoping to hear back soon.
Erin Casey Good question. Music plays a key factor in inspiration. I have to find the right playlist to help keep me motivated to write. Movies, books, and brainstorming with friends also inspire me.
Erin Casey My co-creator AE Kellar and I have been developing this world together for several years. When we started working on an idea of a safe haven for parahumans, I fell in love with the concept. So I asked her if I could write my own book based on The Purple Door District, and she graciously agreed. I grew up around Chicago, which is why the story is based there. I'm also a bird mom of 7, so my babies were kind of my inspiration behind creating a werebird as the main character.
