Onize Lawal-David The clouds. I've always fantasised about sitting there someday. Can you imagine sitting on the cloud with a nice book, a lovely drink and snack? I hardly miss the cloud view on the plane. God is astoundingly creative!
Onize Lawal-David Immediately, I relax, exercise or change activity, and do something fun.

Most of the time, I have other drafts on varying genres, so, if I experience a block on one, I am able to proceed with others after I refresh. Most times, I would start getting ideas on the previous one while working on others. I also discuss the story with my husband or let him read the draft; this is usually very helpful. It makes ideas flow easily.

Eating healthy, staying hydrated, watching favorite TV shows and series, reading other books or changing location also helps.

The whole idea is not to be hard on myself. Though, setting deadlines may be unavoidable, if I have a block, I would extend my deadline.

At the beginning, in-between and in the end, I don't forget to thank God for how far I had gone, and I also pray for more inspiration; that would usually solve it.
Onize Lawal-David I believe it is God Who gives all good talents and inspiration, I wonder at my passion and what I am able to write most times, really, so God knows better.

What I know is that it comes through a crazy (good) thought, a sudden urge, a flash of idea, life, love, passion for a cause, desire to express an opinion or pass information, a challenge, nature, imagination, food, light, darkness, bad times, good times, all seasons... Absolutely everything, anytime and anywhere, gives me inspiration.
Onize Lawal-David 1. It's important to learn from others, but be proud of your uniqueness; everyone's talent and style is unique. Be YOU, and let your work be "the original" (of your style of writing) that others (other originals) can learn from/improve on.

2. Remember to duplicate your drafts and keep them safe. Also, save, as you write. If possible, write with (old school) paper and biro or pen; I feel it is safer and easier to keep.

3. Train or develop your skills when you can. Stay humble, don't stop learning; even from younger writers.

4. Write for love and peace.

5. Never give up on your dreams, everything is achievable with prayer, good planning and commitment.

6. Ask questions and research about everything concerning your manuscript. Google is very helpful but compare opinions and advice on a search. I would go for the most professional or if it suits my style or preference.

7. Seek professional help, if needed. It's important not to compromise on quality. Your book is your CV.

8. Ignore negative criticisms, let them drive you to do excellently. Embrace constructive criticisms and professional advice, they are the icing on your cake.

Wish you all the best.
Onize Lawal-David Some exciting books that can't wait for 2019 to arrive ☺ ...please, watch out for them, I'll definitely announce here.
Onize Lawal-David Really, I've never given this a thought till now. For me, I feel it is that ability to express myself creatively, and as I desire. The ability to bring unimaginable and impossible stories to life, and the ability to control readers' emotions and impact or influence them positively. (This is my opinion for now 😁😁).

3. From the children I've associated with, outside family.

4. Juvenile delinquencies and childhood mischiefs.

5. Moral decadence and corruption in different sectors and nations of the world; especially, politics, economy and accountability in leadership.

6. Love and appreciation of the Nigerian sensibility, structure and culture.
