Goodreads asked Onize Lawal-David:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Onize Lawal-David Immediately, I relax, exercise or change activity, and do something fun.

Most of the time, I have other drafts on varying genres, so, if I experience a block on one, I am able to proceed with others after I refresh. Most times, I would start getting ideas on the previous one while working on others. I also discuss the story with my husband or let him read the draft; this is usually very helpful. It makes ideas flow easily.

Eating healthy, staying hydrated, watching favorite TV shows and series, reading other books or changing location also helps.

The whole idea is not to be hard on myself. Though, setting deadlines may be unavoidable, if I have a block, I would extend my deadline.

At the beginning, in-between and in the end, I don't forget to thank God for how far I had gone, and I also pray for more inspiration; that would usually solve it.
